Let me introduce this idea i had today:

At the event's date, all the participants submit the best module they can, with a different extra restriction each time (size, types of blocks...)
A poll is set up, and we vote for the best module to settle a winner, and a top XX (let's say top 5 for this example).
The top 5 modules are published in a world dedicated to that, like "SECBA building competition #1" or something, with a description that says they are the winning modules.
The event is repeated every 2 weeks. Restrictions do not carry from one competition to the other.

I think a competition is a great idea, but we should define the goals exactly(with a random build its hard to find out who made the "best" build.
Maybe like: Build a ship max. size___, dont use more than 8 thrusts or build a module for an alien base on an asterioid, or build a hospital station only using the four basic blocks.
